Hello
After some time, I have reinstalled FC2 in windows 7 64bits.
As soon as I start the game, it start generating Schannel id 36882 errors nearly every 10 seconds.
The error means that a certificate from a remote server was issued by an untrusted certificate authority.
So, FC2 exe is sending info to a server and gets wrong info back, or the needed certificate is not on my pc, or the certificate on my pc is expired.
The problem is that I can not recover the needed data form my logbook data which server or certificate gives that error.
After one week trial and error and reading lots of postings and microsoft articles, i just can not resolve that problem.
So far , this is what I have tried:
- update ATI drivers (XFX Radeon HD 6870) and VIA sound drivers. (I use onboard sound)
-Clean install FC2 twice. Download the 01 patch from securom and used that for the third clean install. After that used patch 02 and 03.
- run securom diagnostics tool. No problems found.
-run the game in compatibility mode, XP, servicepack 1 and 2. Tack run as administrator
-run in compatibility mode vista, servicepack 1.
- Update all certificates by download the rootsupd.exe file from microsoft and install it. There were lots of certificates added but not the needed one.
- Installed MMC and checked all available certificates. Could not find the one I needed.
- Trouble shooting Forms Base Authenticication using Secure LDAP Authentivication on ISA server 2006. This article, written by Yuri Diogenes of Microsoft, attents some problem solving and how to solve the Schannel errors. This program makes a readable report and not the binary unreadable stuff of logbook data.
Sadly enough, the tool they use is made for a server, not a pc, so no report.
After 1 hour running the game, I have to delete about 60 schannel errors from the logbook.
Besides that, I have the feeling, that all those actions slows down the game.
Does anybody know, how I can read the schannel error and track the problem, so I can download the needed certificate and install that one.
The only readable parts in the binary data are:
- Verisign, Inc
- Verisign Thrust network
- terms of use at https://www.verisign.com/rpalc(c)101/0
- verisign class 3 G30
- microsoft advertising
- locate.madserver.net
- http://svrsecure-g3
I have updated all verisign certificates, no joy. http://locate.madserver.net seems to be an online gaming server. (I only play FC2 stand alone)
I have no idea what MS advertising is doeing in FC2.exe.
Thanks for reading.
