It's time to talk about migration. Here in the Pacific Northwest, birds are enjoying the last rays of the summer sun before they fly south for a warmer fall and winter. At Microsoft, we hope the summer weather stays forever, but we are also making migration-related plans.
As Windows 7 will reach end of support on January 14, 2020, we want to ensure that you have the tools and guidance you need to shift to Windows 10. Today, Bob Davis, CVP of Microsoft 365, announced the availability of a new FastTrack for Windows 10 focused on deployment guidance to do just that. With FastTrack, we help you to envision a technical plan, determine how to onboard and deploy new services and/or users, and work with you as you deploy.
Since application readiness can be a big piece of the Windows 10 and Microsoft 365 migration puzzle, I wanted to remind you that there are resources to help in that area as well. First, there's Desktop App Assure, where a FastTrack Specialist can work with you throughout your migration to Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus, and as you consume feature updates. For those migrating applications to Azure, we also recently released a new version of Azure Migrate with centralized tools and built-in guidance to simplify your migration journey—from discovering critical apps dependencies to executing and managing the migration process, all while ensuring there isn't an impact on your business. Using this tool, you can successfully develop a migration plan that will reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) faster, keeping systems online and available, and identifying ways to modernize your applications.
Taking a cue from the migrating birds, there is a lot to be gained from following true and tested migration experiences. If you're at the Gartner Catalyst conference in San Diego this week, our team would love to talk to you about your migration; come visit us at Booth 316. We respect your efforts to upgrade to Windows 10, and we are committed to working with you every step of the way.
