How about KB2600217? Listed as important but not checked. Learned last month this is called "throttling", when MS suspects a problem. It's a big one too.

Based on my experience last month MS forgets about it unless you somehow push them to check it for install.

I always leave those for last. Some updates should be done alone. I did it last and no problems.

Thanks. I do similar. I haven't even done KB2600217 yet and this months' updates have been a bear. Long downloads and installations, lots of restarts. I spent a good hour almost so far.

It's a .NET update. There are also other .NET updates. Allow the .NET optimizer to complete before you install it or you get a hang on reboot.

The Silverlight update that gave some problems is for version 4.0.xxx. If version 5.0.xxx is installed it is not needed. Why has Silverlight not offered me an update to 5.0.xxx? I have updates checked to let me know when updates are available. It always concerns me when a program doesn't offer an update.

I uninstalled Silverlight Ver 4 on a PC that had the update error.
After that, Version 4 is listed in the Updates available.
I've read some people have issues with Version 5.
Maybe MS is not pushing out Version 5 yet, because of issues ???

I'm not getting the update to go from 4 to 5 either. That's even though I've got Microsoft Silverlight Configuration set to auto check for downloads on the Update tab. I get updates for 4 as expected.

Maybe going from 4 to 5 requires manual updating (major vs. minor versions? - or both versions still supported and continuing to be updated for security patches?). Maybe the update to go to 5 will appear when 4 is no longer supported. If I click on the help link for Silverlight version 4 in Program and Defaults I get offered version 5 from the MS website.

Go here install v5.0 and solve the issue.> Get Silverlight | Microsoft Silverlight

You do not have to uninstall v4.0. Download then follow the prompts to install and your done.

I had kind of a bizarre experience related to this. I checked yesterday and my Silverlight (v4.06.xxx) wasn't working. It would not play any videos I tried on the MS site. Strange as I remember it working before. So I did the update from Feb. 14. The update installed just fine and Silverlight said it was now v4.1.xxx when I checked the program itself and in Program and Features. And importantly it was working, videos now played fine.

But when I went to the Silverlight web page it told me I had v4.06.xxx, not v4.1.xxx. On the site it does offer the update to v5.0.

I saw others report that the website identifies the wrong version as being installed. I'm pretty sure I have v 4.1.xxx and hopefully it is secure, but it all seems a little wonky.

It is the service that runs to optimize the .NET framework when any changes are made.
