Hi All,

Couple weeks ago, I tried a virtual cdrom software (sorry, I forget its name). That software was crashed after created the driver E. Since then I tried a lot of ways to remove this ghost virtual driver which I searched from the google, unfortunately, all failed. Do you guys know how to fix this?

1. I tried to unload the driver from device manager, but I can't find the driver from device manager, actually, there is no CDROM controller at all!

2. After restarting the laptop, this driver still does exist. But in safe mode, this driver disappeared.

3. From disk manager, I also can not find this driver.

4. For system info, Lenovo X200 (no physical cd/dvd rom driver) win7 x64.

Waiting for your reply, thanks a lot.

In Device Manager click View>Show hidden devices.

Hi,

Thanks for your reg file. I had merged that file, I could see lots of drivers inside Device Manager. I have removed all the drivers unders DVD/CD-ROM drivers, than I restarted the computer. However, that virtual cdrom driver still exist in File Explorer.

So is there any ways to fix it ?

Thanks again.

Run msconfig and go to the "Startup" tab. See if you can find the entry that loads it. If you find it you can uncheck it or edit the registry manually and remove it. The "Command" column should show you where it is installed to on your hard drive.

I just checked the startup process from msconfig, not found the entry which load the virtual driver. This does not work. Anyway, thanks for your help.
