I noticed if I removed a video from one of the library folders
and put it on my desktop, WMP knows I did this and updates it's own index
so that it is accessible through WMP/Library even though Desktop is not a library location.
Is this expected behavior? I did not know it did this, I assumed the WMP/Library pointer
would be invalid now and still point to the original location
What is the expected behavior if a media file in the video library (for example) is renamed or
deleted? Does the WMP/Library get updated to reflect the new name and does the index
for this file get deleted as the file no longer exists? My experience is that the answer is no
in both cases. I had a bunch of video files that the WMP index gave their location as the recycle bin.
I saw Organize/apply media information changes - I though this might fix the index in the rename
situation, but it doesn't appear to
I'm always moving files around, what I would like is that if the physical files are moved out of
a library location they are deleted from the WMP index - otherwise I have to rebuild the whole
index to sync it back up to physical files (existing and in the library locations)
Is this whole thing as unintuitive as it seems, or am I simply not on the right wave length?
