Hi,
Win7 64bit pro
Running Classic Shell.

One thing that is so different from WinXP is that when I go file save-as the windows occupies the entire screen, I cant resize it at the corner despite the resize three faint bars there and getting a two way arrow, it wont budge, no resize icons top right work, , can't drag edges, nothing.

As such I cant see the subject underneath I need to refer to to give it an appropriate name, or in the current case, I am following a step by step and its giving me settings to use in saving a CAD file, and I now cant see these settings as I do the save it tells me to do.

I have been with PCs since the true floppy discs existed, yet have never come across such a cockup as win7, Classic shell has sorted out a number of issues but this is a real pain.

Does it happen if you disable or uninstall Classic Shell?

As Classic Shell is a life saver, and I dare not mess up PC or lose its abilities, I wouldnt want to mess around with it, with critical work on the go all the time, seeing that it was the first building block to building my PC, so I cannot answer that question.

If it did then I would still have to have Classic Shell.

I just wish Msoft hadnt goofed to start with.

Does anyone without Classic Shell have this happen on win7 64bit ?

try a variety of progs.

It does it in Microsoft Word 2010. also in my CAD prog Rhino3d. but not in CAD prog FormZ

it doesnt do this in Photoshop CS6

it doesnt do it in Msoft Access 2010 or in Msoft paint.

That would be interesting to know.

Microsoft messed up a lot of things in W7...
...this is one such goof:

I don't use Classic Shell and Notepad's "Save As..." dialog box can change size. But its minimum size is larger than the "Save As..." dialog box in XP.

I suspect that the reason why some apps don't have the issue that you described is - those apps are not calling the Windows API that creates the "Save As..." dialog box. In other words, the app creates/uses its own "Save As..." dialog box.

BTW, I don't see a "Save As..." dialog box in MS Access 2010.
