In Win XP (and previous), right click in Win Explorer brings up a properties selection. There is a version tab that allows me to see exactly which program I am using. This is important for things that stop working (like graphic filters).

How do I get this information in Win 7?

This that has been removed from Windows 7 and is no longer available (why is something that I could never understand).

Have a look on the details tab instead, it contains much of that info, but in a worse format:

Thanks. This is certainly better. Requires a lot of reading to install, though, at the code project. Maybe not all that good for nubes (which I am not, but still seemed complicated).

What I still do not understand, though...

I added "file version" to the list of displayed properties in the windows explorer. Some programs (like the one in which I am interested) do not display their versions there. One has to go to the version tab in the codeproject dll.

So my next question: can a link to the file version be put in the context menu (right click)?

I must admit that I have not used the Code Project so I can't really help you there but I see there is a "Comments and Discussion" section at the bottom of the site so perhaps that may be a source of info for you!
