I put a CD in Drive and it is recognized in Windows Explorer however I cannot expand the tree to see files just the CD's name shows. This happens with all CD's I put in drive. I have Win 7 with two CD/DVD burners, (an LG and Samsung), and all current updates. This just happened in last month and was fine until then. I can burn CD's in the drives and read them on another machine but for some reason neither one of my CD drives will. I have checked all wire connections and they are secure.

Thanks for any help solving this problem.

Thanks for reply jumanji. My Shell Hardware Detection Service in started and set to Automatic.

I reset my Autoplay to default. I went to link and corrected the registry entries. Had no entry in HKey/CurrentUser section but did in Hkey/LocalMachine part. I deleted the NoDriveAutoRun entry and changed the NoDriveTypeAutoRun to decimal (0).

Search of registry for any other NoDriveAutoRun entries showed nil.

Rebooted and the AutoPlay dialog box showed and I clicked on "Open folder to view files using windows explorer" and nothing happened. I manually opened windows explorer and tried expanding tree and view contents but still does not display contents of CD.

I might add that now when I connect my external USB drive windows explorer opens and displays contents of the drive.

Thanks again and any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Nothing seemed to work. Ran the troubledshooter in Device manager. Cleared registry keys for Autoplay, High & Low filters. ran MS Fixit program. Disabled all startup programs with msconfig. It could read in Safe mode though. I ended up doing a repair install on the Win 7 machine and that fixed the problem.

I was really beaten down with this problem. Very strange. Didn't know where to look at.

This again is one mystery which we could not unravel.

Glad that a repair install fixed it and thanks for letting us know.
