Solved Finding a wifi source

I am currently accessing the internet via ADSL supplied by my landline phone supplier Orange.fr. The service has been getting steadily worse for a year or so now, supposedly due to their steady rollout of a new Fibre connection. They are no longer giving much priority to maintenance of the old copper fed ADSL lines and it will soon be shut down entirely. Fibre is unlikely to ever be available at my location because it is rural and too sparsely populated to be worth the expense of the Fibre lines. As a result, I am trying to access the internet via satellite supplied by Nordnet.

I have the dish installed and it feeds a Nordnet wifi box in my office. I can only access it using an ethernet cable direct from my W7 desktop.
With my old Orange ADSL setup I have the choice of ethernet or wifi. I have tried to get connected to the satellite by wifi but I can't find it. Can anyone tell my how to get my PC to search for any nearby wifi routers so I can choose which to connect to?

whats the actual error message....and the error symbol on the wifi icon on the status bar.... x or !

There is no error message. Simply no choice of other wifi sources in the "Networking and sharing centre".
At bottom right it shows 5 bars, clicking on that I get a popup, "Currently connected to", Livebox A-430, internet access.
At the bottom of that box it says- Wireless Network Connection, Livebox A-430, Connected.
In the middle of the box it says- Dial-up and VPN, Broadband Connection, with a red X next to it. Clicking on it I get the message: This connection is not available because there is a problem with your modem or network adapter. On the right of that message is a "Connect" button which does nothing.

If you really need the msinfo32 zip I will need to connect and switch on the satellite modem, etc. Not possible this evening.

My Asus motherboard didn't come with onboard wifi. I have added an Asus PCE-N15 wifi card. I had a look at the info that came with the card and it is 35 pages of confusion. I can only assume when I installed the card I didn't set it up to show all available networks. If that is the case I will simply order a 3-metre long ethernet cable and connect to the Nordnet box that way.

I would still like to know if anyone else has more than one wifi source within range, and are they given any option to select the one they want to connect to. Or does a Windows PC automatically connect to the strongest one? If there is a way to make a choice, where do you find it?
