Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, appeared to be the most logical place to put it. I try not to clutter forums with stuff like this so I do apologize.

I'll try to keep the fluff to a minimum.

Was going to do a new build 7 months ago, bought parts, some stuff broke, didn't finish it, and its long overdue to be finished.

Budget: $2000-$3000usd (trying to avoid overkill this time around)
Main Use: (Mostly) Gaming, Video Editing, 3D Work, General Usage
Monitor Resolution: 1680 × 1050 maybe? I will probably be getting a new Dell U2411 IPS monitor.

Here is a link to the wishlist I made with everything in it.
https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.aspx?ID=16942005

The parts I obtained for the build 7 months ago are:

  • LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer Black SATA Model iHAS424-98 LightScribe Support
  • LITE-ON Black SATA DVD-ROM Drive Model iHDS118-04 - OEM
  • Corsair Graphite Series 600T Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
  • CORSAIR Hydro H70 CWCH70 120mm High Performance CPU Cooler
  • CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX850 (CMPSU-850AX) 850W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active ...
  • AeroCool Touch-1000 Controller, Panel
  • Rosewill RCR-IC002 74-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader w/ USB port / Extra silver face plate

I have not decided if I be using these or selling them to obtain newer/different components.

This is what I have thought up so far.

Reusing:

2x Western Digital 150GB Veloci Raptor 10,000 RPM 16 MB Buffer

ASUS Xonar D2X 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card

Corsair Graphite Series 600T Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

AeroCool Touch-1000 Controller, Panel

Rosewill RCR-IC002 74-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader w/ USB port / Extra silver face plate

Some stuff I have not decided upon since newer components have since come out.
Any help you guys could provide would be awesome.
Thanks

2000-3000? You could throw it all away and start anew.:sarc:
I wouldn't use the Liteon drives but get some good brand Bluray burner drive and a decent DVD combo, I have a LG BD-R and it works weel. The H70 and Corasiar PSU are keeper too. If you go heavier on the GFX cards, maybe a 1100W-1200W PSU would be in order.

Generally most the builds I come up with are around $2500 but I figured I'd add the extra room to see what people would come up with.

The Lite-On drives were only like 10$ each so if I didn't use those I wouldn't be too dis-trot, not sure why I bought Lite-On optical drives to be honest. The Blu-Ray would probably be worth it, but since I have never used one I figured I'd put the 70$ toward other components.

The only reason I questioned the H70 was due to the H60, H80 and H100 but from what I've been reading the only difference appears to be that the cpu contact has a different design and some leds on it. (With the exception that the H100 is a double rad) I probably should have gone with a 1000w to be on the safe side but I didn't really imagine doing a dual gpu set-up at the time but I guess I can always address that down the road.

Any other tweaks/recommendations?
