Firefox 3.5 Switching Tabs

In previous versions, you could give focus to a single tab (like clicking on it) and then use the arrow keys to toggle between tabs.

I can't do that in 3.5, did they take that out or did they just change the way it's done?

Wow. Thanks, that is exactly what I'm looking for. I wish they had kept the arrows as an option. But this works just as well.

In alternative you can use CTRL+1, 2, 3, 4 and so on.

Mine does a fantastic job...when I have it with me. I use a laptop, and try to use the touchpad as seldom as possible.

No method is better than any other, essentially it is personally preference, but I wanted to mention that any Multiple Document Interface application in Windows (MDI) will use Ctrl-Tab\Shift-Ctrl-Tab as a standard (part of the underlying base object) to navigate between documents.

Windows 7 introduced a lot more as well.

Can you do Windows+Tab? I think you can do it in IE.

Install "Swift Tabs" adds-on. It is not compatible with 3.5, but if you install Mr Tech Toolkit you can make it compatible and you will be able to use ctrl+arrows. That's what I'm using right nopw.

Bumping an old post, but I was digging around trying to find a way to "reactivate" navigating between tabs using my arrow/home/end keys.

Since someone mentioned activating my cursor in the address bar and hitting Tab until the tabs were selected, presumably to jump from the chrome search engine to your open tabs. Unfortunately, that did not work with 3.5.3.

However, upon selecting an active tab, I happened upon a solution:

Select the tab just as you would in previous versions of Firefox (don't double click the tab).
Press Shift+Tab.
Voila!
Your tab should now have the familiar tab selection dots.
Hit Home, End, Left and Right arrows til your heart is content.

Another creative way someone suggested (and works) is to right click the tab, then with the right mouse button held down, left click on the tab (sub menu will appear at this point, simply left click on the tab again or hit Esc and it'll disappear).

Unfortunately, these workarounds require a bit more interaction than previous versions of Firefox, but it beats adding another addon.
