Early adopters that followed the development process of the next major iteration of Firefox, already know that a major graphical user interface overhaul was also introduced, with more and more pieces of the revamped UI falling into place as additional Beta releases were offered.

At the end of the past month, Mozilla designer Stephen Horlander posted a free screenshots offering insights on just how far the UI redesign of Firefox 4.0 has come.

Users are bound to agree that the Windows flavor of Firefox has suffered the most changes, with the new user interface differing dramatically from the old version.

According to Horlander, work on the overhauling the Firefox 4.0 UI is almost complete, with Mozilla now moving to soften any rough corners.

“In its current state the theme has most of the major bits in place and they now just await tweaks and polish,” he explained.

The screenshots included at the bottom of this article are also illustrative of just how has the Firefox 4.0 UI evolved since Mozilla embarked on the revamping efforts.

The company notes that the feedback it received from testers of the many Firefox 4.0 Beta Builds related to the new UI has been mainly positive.

Hmmm....it must be just me, but I find graphic changes like this to often be so subtle that I really don't even see them. I have to look for awhile at each picture to just tell what is really different.

why this shift towards an Opera style for all the browsers? IE9, Chrome, FF

It's becoming harder to identify one browser from the other.

BUT - if they improve speed/functionality, I'll take the upgrade.

I'm already familiar with this style as an Opera/Chrome user as well, so it won't be much of a change.

you can keep it like that, everything will remain when you upgrade, it will only be a subtle change to the looks and not the the layout, the ones in the picure are have been changed on purpose to show the new features

right now tabmix plus don't seem to work properly with 4.0 even though they claim it does. so when i do install 4.0 to test it i'm stuck with the tabbar towards the top like that. do you know of a addon that i can use for now that will put the tabbar on the bottom?
