Hi. For a couple of weeks now I've had problems with Firefox (currently 45.0.1 but same thing before the update). When I launch it, I'll either get my homepage (which is OK) but it's more likely I'll get my previous session or the 'Well this is embarrassing' page.

I've run Malwarebytes but it found nothing. I know I can change something in about:config but I shouldn't need to do that. The fact that launching Firefox can have three different outcomes suggests a problem of some kind.

Also, I quite often notice that a webpage in one of the non-visible tabs has changed to some scam-looking site about, for example, needing to contact Microsoft to fix a problem or, as has just happened, a bookmakers site (could be fake) offering odds on one of today's football matches.

Has anyone else been experiencing similar issues or maybe has a remedy? Thank you.

See if this helps:

Tools > Options > Privacy > Check Clear history when Firefox closes

Click the Settings button on the clear history line and check Browsing & Download History, Cache, and Cookies (as a minimum). Restart Firefox.

Thanks, GEWB, but I like having History available. I've bitten the bullet and changed a couple of things in about:config.
