Solved Firewall blocking internet access?

There is a yellow triangle on my internet connection in the taskbar notification area everytime I log on, and meanwhile the Network and Sharing Centre reports an unidentified network on the active network connection.

The only way I have found to put me online is to disable the Firewall in the AV. For obvious reasons this cannot be a permanent solution. So what is wrong with my configuration such that the Firewall causes this?

This error occured after I did two system restores in a row and declined to re-update the Firefox browser. I think I also ran Superantispyware at some point too. But now the internet connection is broken. How do I fix my internet connection?

Sfc /scannow reports no integrity violations.

Network troubleshooter reports network connection doesnt have a valid IP configuration.

The Network and Sharing Centre also reports that the active network is now a Public network (it should be a home network).

ipconfig /release and /renew failed with error : - "An error occurred while releasing interface : An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint".

Okay so you know the cause. The easiest solution is to reinstall your AV. After that all firewall rules and drivers should be restored to default.(don't save your AV-settings if you get that option when you uninstalling it.

I hoped you would not say that ... maybe if all else fails to restore the internet.

With av you dontget an ip but one thats 169 which means it goes no were as its one MS assigns so it is your Firewall giving the problem

MS Windows used to work with this particular Firewall. DHCP client service is started and automatic, DNS client service is started and automatic. Action Centre is not reporting any problem with the Firewall. The Firewall is saying that it is currently blocking "system" and defines MS "system" as allowed connection to all networks on any port. The Av System rules say Allow DHCP and Allow DNS both set to Enabled. The Av Packet rules are defined to allow DHCP over ports 67-68,546-547. Address ranges 169.254.0.0 to 169.254.255.255 are defined as a "friend" network.

I cannot immediately see what to change from within the Av or Windows to make connection work again. Perhaps if I download another third party Firewall and switch off my current Firewall? That might reveal if the problem is will MS Windows or with the Firewall instillation. Any other suggestions?

You have already been given the best chance of a solution - Remove the AV suite completely using a suitable cleaner from the AV supplier and then reinstall it - that will remove any blockage in the system including any in the registry

Thanks folks. I discovered "Restore Factory Defaults" in the AV Suite, and pressing that has resettled the difference in the registry, so I now wish to mark this question as solved.
