Ivy Bridge should be interesting. Apparently they support DDR3 RAM and PCI-E3.0. CPU sockets are large enough though. :shock:

I think people are fed up with having to get a new mobo when they upgrade CPU and it would sell and encourage people to go for the upgrade.

You have a point, but than if I'm going to buy that board, to later upgrade to the X79..... then why am I buying that since I already have a 1366 MB?

Either way you have to buy a MB - that one so that you can still use your 1366 processor, or a pure X79 board. Performance wise I'd rather have a dedicated MB.

Anyway I get it, I just don't see it being too practical; and let's not forget price, which I'm sure is going to be around 300 bucks.

Now, if they made it where some of that power from the old processor, and RAM, could be used in conjunction with the new processor and RAM, than that would be well worth the upgrade, but I don't see that being a reality.

I read somewhere else that to have it so that you could use both chips at the same time would be technically difficult but not impossible.
If they could do that it would be a very attractive proposition, you would end up with a super machine of some kind.
