I am not sure whether that is one of the prettiest regions - let's say it is serene. I have found real pretty country in the western US. No state can compete with California for scenery and variety. And the dullest region is where I am now - Florida - unless you like sandy beaches and sink holes.

Wine in Ohio - that's new to me - but why not. I have had wine from Washington state, from the Finger Lakes in NY state and wine from Virginia. None of those killed me but would also not make the list in Gault Millau or Michelin. Some of the Finger Lake people came originally from Germany.

The Finger Lake region/Lake placid area some of the prettiest country in the United States. Good people there too

I use to ski in Ithica, right below Cayuga Lake, very nice
