It doesn't work on U3 flash drives. I got my best results with a 4gb $12.00 verbatim flash drive formatted to device defaults

While I am considering buying another flash drive, I doubt that it will be U3, because I can't see a need for me to launch a program from a flash drive. However, I'm still curious...what doesn't work on U3...HD Tune?

EDIT: Rethinking my statement above, I got to wondering if one must be booted to desktop to launch a program? I'm not talking about the typical diagnostic programs designed to be booted directly to, but other diagnostic programs designed to function within Windows.

Fat32 is the best format for a flash drive. It is faster and does not wear the drive as much as NTFS which writes all the ancillary data on the drive.

for some reason, not sure why, I've never been able to use any U3 flash drives as bootable media. (linux distros, windows 7, gParted) maybe because there's a hidden partition in U3 flash drives that confuses the bios when it's searching for a boot device
