I have a sony flash drive 4GB which I made bootable using Rufus s/w, but after that I formatted it to NTFS, now the problem is it has around 50 MB used space even after formatting, when I try copying any files, the transfer rate is normal but at 5 sec remaining it will take around 2 mins to complete copying.
To check this I tried it with another hp pendrive and the result is same.
Any help?

There is absolutely no point in NTFS formatting a 4GB pen drive. So I won't even take cognisance of your problem. :)

Format all your pen drives to FAT32, unless you have an inevitable requirement of saving files of more than 4GB file size.

IMO, the best tool for formatting pen drives and external HDDs (upto 2 TB) is HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool v 2.2.3 HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool Free Download ( Right click on the exe file and run as administrator. And do a full format unchecking the Quick format option.)

Jumanji thanks I have formatted it to FAT32 and now there is no 50 MB used space. Out of curiosity I have formatted it again to NTFS and bang the 50MB used space is back. Does any one knows why this happens?

The NTFS file system has a lot of metadata, data that is part of the file system itself. This will alway be there in an NTFS formatted drive, even when it contains no user data. All file system have this but since NTFS is so complex it will have more. FAT32 is much simpler and has little metadata.

You have to keep this in perspective. 50 MB is only 1.25% of the total drive capacity.
