After using 7 for a while I hope that Microsoft will work on a key features before the actual Official release

As much as I prefer XP over VISTA, I personally prefer VISTA over 7 and will NOT upgrade to the new system when my RC beta expires when it's designed to

I love the better customized control over the appearance in 7, VISTA has the AERO appearance it still is bland, 7 has solved this problem. Some thing's 7 is at this time you can NOT customize the Start/programs with the classic look as you could do up to VISTA, I understand it is the key ability with 7 and probably the premise built off of it's design is it's group programs functions. (Sorry, I have no idea what this is supposed to mean)

I personally would rather have the switch between windows function that you have ion VISTA where you can just scroll through the programs for what you need -- with 7 it groups all like programs into one tab & you have to hover over & look (Sorry, I have no idea what this is supposed to mean)

WELL, it's my own taste 7 personal preference & GOD hasn't commanded me yet to like things just bewcause some other people like certain things - things like & including VISTA at least you had more control over customizing for your own taste - also for me personally, unlike alot of people I have always preferred the 800 x 600 screen resolution BUT, with 7 you are set at default for 1024 X 768 which makes everything so small ( you can change to a larger resolution BUT, will make some things fuzzy)

BUT, 7 has also taken the ability to set your start menu to classic view which means unlike in classic view when you go to your programs it shows all your programs - with 7 you have to go to programs show all programs then category for program -- I love that 7 starts faster than VISTA, I love that you can customize the appearance better than VISTA - other than that I do NOT like 7 at all, after that I prefer the feel & function of VISTA

ALSO, if you need an e-mail reader such as OUTLOOK (express, etc) it does NOT come with one - you can download the Windows Live Essentials that comes with whats called a live Windows Mail lightly resembling the Windows mail program in VISTA but, lacking some form & function ALSO, must know that when using to get e-mail it does NOT automatically delete messages off the mail server after downloading MEANING, if you use this program to start receiving your e-mail - if, you should sign on using a different program like OUTLOOK (express, ETC type program) it will download ANY & all messages you may have previously downloaded using the Windows Live mail -- just put in a Windows mail program in 7 and also give us back the ability to use a classic views type of set up like at least in VISTA

the bottom line for me is I will for now anyway keep to VISTA, despite the long boot and having to use a program like Window Blinds from STARDOCK to give me a much better look in appearance then what you would normally get with VISTA - I just don't see anything improved in 7 or anything in 7 at this time to make me consider on pulling the trigger on doling out what I would guess will be somewhere in the $400 for a decent premium version of 7 when it becomes official & all of our betas & RC's start shutting down in the fall -- I personally think it sucks so far BUT, we'll see what or any changes they make in the final "OFFICIAL" relase of what will be Windows 7

Just goes to show you can't keep all the people happy all the time. I will dump Vista as soon as Windows 7 goes retail but everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that. I think anyone who prefers Vista will find themselves a minority on this forum but that's just my opinion.

I am going to add some paragraphs. The OP has some interesting points. While i don't agree with most of them, I think by making this easier to read, more folks can comment.

Well, all I can say is different strokes for different folks. I am glad classic is gone. How long are we going to hold onto a dated UI?

As far as screen resolution goes, other than a netbook, what monitor uses 800x600? If you are using a 800 x 600 monitor, then that resolution should look just fine. If you are trying to force 800 x 600 onto a LCD which has a different native resolution, then yes, your desktop will look fuzzy, but this is a function of the monitor, not Windows.

I'm also glad that MS has separated out the e-mail client. By not tying the client to the OS, the mail client can be updated on a totally different schedule than that of the OS. The Windows Live Client does everything Windows mail does and I find the interface much cleaner.

If Vista is working for you, then stick with it. Do understand the newer iterations of Windows (i.e. Windows 8) will branch off of Win 7 and not Vista, so when you make that move, you will need to learn the current Aero GUI.

A quick work on Windows Mail.....I am sure Microsoft would have preferred to include it as well, however Anti-Trust issues with EU have forced their hand, rather than have different versions for other parts of the world it is easier to have the Windows Live Mail application as a separate download.

Personally....I never used it....I have my copy of Office and I use Outlook for the extra features etc.

I have always preferred the 800 x 600 screen resolution BUT, with 7 you are set at default for 1024 X 768

lmao, what the hell is this, 1998?

ALSO, must know that when using to get e-mail it does NOT automatically delete messages off the mail server after downloading MEANING, if you use this program to start receiving your e-mail - if, you should sign on using a different program like OUTLOOK (express, ETC type program) it will download ANY & all messages ... just put in a Windows mail program in 7 and also give us back the ability to use a classic views type of set up like at least in VISTA

Um, that is how all mail clients work. Windows is not a mail client. If you install Thunderbird or another program, you still have to set up the account to not delete from the server...

As for not including a client... there are like 3 MS mail clients, and people spend more time bitching about security loopholes anyway.

As for the start menu thing... One extra click is a product killer?

despite the long boot and having to use a program like Window Blinds from STARDOCK to give me a much better look in appearance

........... you want high-quality themes through third party vendors on an 800x600 screen?

I just don't see anything improved in 7

... I have no idea how to begin to reply to this.

Sorry I am just lost here..............

I mean for one, it does not look like he has really tested Windows 7 as most of what he is saying is total crap.
Second, why did he bother joining this forum if he has no intention of using Win 7?
Third, hell if he really knew what he was on he would have joined this forum a long time ago. i mean 3 posts hardly warrents any attention really.
And Fourth, well not really one, other than he should go back to school and work on the communication skills. lol

Although I RESPECT your opinion, I APOLOGIZE before hand for being somewhat SARCASTIC with this post.

If things are so SMALL due to SEVEN's increased RESOLUTION, then you can simply change the DPI of text to make it more LEGIBLE. Most WEBSITES nowadays are OPTIMIZED for displays of at least 1024 pixels of WIDTH.

As other MEMBERS of this FORUM have POINTED out, the removal of the default MAIL client was to help against the anti TRUST lawsuits and STUFF.

Imo, SEVEN is really COOLIO and totally worth the UPGRADE.
