Hello all,

I'm busy with a project in which a PC is enclosed in a small (mobile) machine which automatically boots when power is supplied.
After that, the pc boots into a application as shell, so not using explorer.exe .

Also, the pc is supplied with a usb-SIMcard dongle in order to have a 3G (cellular) internet connection available everywhere.

Now, this dongle is working great, except for one thing:
I'd like to hold/delay the initialization of the internet connection for a few minutes after booting.
I've already tried editing the network service in services.msc from 'automatic' to 'automatic (delayed start)', but this doesn't seem to make any difference yet.

Does any of you know a way to achieve this?

Applicable conditions for the problem/solution are:
- Should work on every boot
- Also after a power-out shutdown (Brute shutdown by a foolish user ;) )
- Be reliable and steady
- At best without third party applications etc.

Thanks in advance!
A.

By the way, i'm using a Dell Optiplex 780 USFF on Windows 7 Ultimate (X64).

Welcome to the forum. Winpatrol has this option to delay start-up as long as you want you can use the free

Thanks for your reply!
Although i appreciate your reply, i'd rather use/prefer a non-third-party solution.

Shouldn't this be possible through services.msc or some kind of registry-editing?

Thanks in advance!

You could simply set it to disabled then add a script to startup wait x time then start the service this is basically what winpatrol does

That sounds like a plan.
Will it Stay disabled on every boot? Also after an unexpected power shutdown?

Also, what should exactly be disabled and controller by the script?

Thanks in advance,
A.
