Hello people. New here, be gentle... :D

Yesterday i bought a Fuji FinePix Z70 as a replacement to my old FinePix S5500.

The major problem is the Z70 only connects as an MTP device, i cannot see it in explorer, assign it a drive letter, etc.

And i hate to manage files via forced camera dialogue. I'm an old Norton Commander fiend, now, for about 10+ years use FAR for file management.

Another thing is i cannot seem to find a way to forcefeed the MSC driver to camera device in the bid to see if it automatically switches to sanity mode. Cant even find "mass storage" driver in given options in driver updating. Tried \inf, \system32, the usual. W7 only shows MTP options of drivers....gah...

Camera itself doesnt seem to have a manual transfer mode switching ability in the menus.

Maybe i'm taking this whole problem from the wrong end ? Any ideas are welcome.

TL;DR - How to force MSC on MTP device ?

I believe the mode is set by the camera (device) not Windows. My Sansa can work in either mode but it's set in the Sansa setup menu. I don't think you can force it to the other mode from windows. When you plug it in it's going to tell windows I'm this or I'm that.

alphanumeric,

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!

This was driving me NUTS.

I'd recently upgraded the firmware on my Sansa and because of that couldn't see 7.5gb of music on my Clip mp3 player through W7 explorer. And the new way the clip wanted to 'sync' my files meant that accessing all these files through my pc was proving impossible.

Until I found your post.

Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much !

Jez
