force specific mp4 video to open at non default resolution

Is there a way to make specific mp4 videos automatically open at a non native resolution? I know this won't actually change the resolution, I would just like to set them so they always open at 1080p, even though their native resolution is lower than that.



For clarification, I don't want to change any setting in the player, I want to somehow trick windows into thinking these two videos are of higher resolution than they are, so when they are opened in my default player mpc-be, they will open at 1080p.

I don't know how to do that but, if you could, you would probably have problems like pixelation, dropped frames, etc.

I appreciate your concern. My monitor is not so large that SD stuff doesn't look at least presentable on it, and the videos in question are favorites of my 2 year old, so, a little pixelation won't bother him much!

I think you want to upscale MP4 to Full HD resolution in real-time.

I don't know how to do that in native Windows.

Then again, I spotted this media-player called mpv. Now I am not completely convinced that this software will do exactly what you want, I just noticed that it claims to do video scaling. Whether that means it can upscale on the fly, I am not convinced. You might need to try to find out.
