Solved Forgotten password, Hirens not working?

User settings as in desktop background, widgets, sticky notes, that stuff?

Yes, they all stay after a reboot.

It wouldn't be something simple like that User cannot change password tickbox in the users and groups settings area would it? Mind, even if it was, it'd throw up errors.

Solved, sort of.

Explained to the user what had happened, and what was happening.
Have got a password and changed the account pass to that, she knows that she can't change the pass.

So yeah, solved kind of.

Thanks for the help, Kaktussoft, wouldn't have known where to go about with re-activating her account.

Cheers guys :)

Oke leave it as it is.

Just for a test:

boot machine and set password to nothing so disable the password. Try if it works. Close all running applications. Now power off by pressing poweroff button for about 10 seconds (so don't shutdown normally). Now reboot. Still no password required?

afterwards from elevated command prompt:
chkdsk/f c:
It says something like "C has been locked. Perfrom actions on reboot?" Type Yes and reboot to check and repair C.

So is the problem there because of startup stuff?

Another test is to hard power off using power off button for 10 seconds. Then enter recovery environment and see if you can logon there. post results
