Hi! I have quick question about formatting and installing Windows 7 again.

I have one hard drive where is 2 partition: C: and D:.
In D: partition I have all the important stuff what I want to save and in C: partition I have Win7 and this partition I want to format. So, is it possible to format only C: partition and install Win7 again in C: with Windows 7 Installing CD? Or do I need to do clean installation? That would be problem.

Thank you!

Yes, you can do that.

You have to be careful. A few steps into the installation, you will be asked "where do you want to install Windows 7"?

You MUST pick the right partition--your current C partition. If you make a mistake and choose D, Windows will install to D and you will lose whatever is now on D.

Those partitions may not be shown as C and D in the installation process--I'm not sure. So you should have some other way of identifying which one is actually C. That would probably be by size. The current C is probably larger or smaller than D, and that's how to make sure you are choosing the correct partition.

You don't ask Windows to format anything. You just direct it to the correct partition. It will automatically do what is necessary.

Disconnect any other drives before you start.

Regardless, it is best that you back up whatever is now on D as anything can happen.

All fans PWM; speeds at idle: CPU circa 500 rpm; intake circa 600 rpm; exhaust circa 600 rpm; CPU temps 27 idle and 47 C load in a warm room (27 C/81 F) when running Intel Extreme Tuning Utility stress test.
I name each partition so it's always easy to find, no matter what drive letter is actually assigned. For instance.

Lenovo_C
Lenovo_D
Lenovo_E
etc.

All you have to do is right click on a partition and select Rename. It does not have any other effect, just changes the name shown.

Thank you for all! I got everything to know. I thought too to identifying C: by size and I will try that name thing too. I always try to backup d: but it's really huge so sometimes it's hard to backup. But thank you all anyways! :)
