Formatting older FAT32 (not LBA) in Windows 7

For compatibility with a really old system I need to be able to format FAT32 (fdisk type "b") not what Windows 7 does (fdisk type "c"). This is for a compact flash.

Is there a way to do this on my machine so I can remain compatible? I can do it in Linux but I don't always have access to a Linux machine.

How about a dedicated partition program like Partition Wizard? You could ask on their forum if it goes back that far. It has a reputation as among the best at its job. The iso download is a free but complete program. No features that are not enabled.

What exactly are you trying to format ? The hard drive you want to install a system on, or merely a flash drive ?

You should have no problems formatting a flash drive to FAT32, in fact I believe they all come this way.

I'm formatting a compact flash to be used in an embedded system. It needs to have the "b" type of format (straight FAT32) not the FAT32 LBA (fdisk "c" type).

You should have no problems formatting a flash drive to FAT32, in fact I believe they all come this way.

Yes, I can format it to FAT32. And yes they do come formatted. Thanks.
