I have a brand new Sandisk 32gb flash drive which Windows sees fine fresh out of the package. However my Android wanted to format it for use via OTG as storage which it did format FAT32 but changed the type from 0x0b to 0x0C. The Android sees it fine, Linux of many types see it fine on the same Multiboot computer (10 hard drives in it) but Windows 7 64 bit won't see it now that Android has formatted it.
Nothing wrong with the flash drive - it's not dirty - never removed improperly. Nothing I saw many long time members here on another thread say about this problem was valid - this is a failure of Windows to properly see a FAT32 USB drive just because of a small difference between CHS and LBA in the formatting. It's not the computer since it sees it booted up under any Linux. Also while it does show up in Partition managers on Windows, Windows Explorer can't see it at all - not even a request to format it. It has to be 0x0c for Android to see it so it will just have to be a pain to boot Linux to have Linux copy it over to my other hard drives (using the flash drive for TWRP backups). Bad Windows ... bad
but I do know the solution - the question is why doesn't Windows automatically assign it a drive letter as it did when it was 0x0b ?
