On a computer are several users. If each user joins/registers to the same forum under their own username, will it appear to the forum admins/mods that a single user (the first one to join I suppose) is trying to create multiple forum accounts?

-thx

Yep. The forum would see all users using the same IP address but different emails.

If you intend to do this then I would talk to the Admin here so you're not banned. Pretty sure this forum has a duplicate account policy.

I know this because I have my own forum with a Dup account policy myself.

Wait, you're referring to a different forum?

Correct, a different forum. Does it change your reply?

No. All forums use an IP address to make sure there are no other dup accounts and/or the cookies. You would have to talk to their Admin about it.

There are several ways to detect such usage, sharing a computer immediately means the forum sees the very same IP address, but if each person uses a different browser or (Windows) account it won't share the cookies, a scenario similar to using different computers within the same local network, which is also a very common scenario.

They can for sure detect that, now the real question is if that's against their rules, or if they watch for those kind of events, or if they even care about that. You need to read their rules and ask them specifically if that could bring some problems or not.

Given that such usages are also quite common, I wouldn't be too worried about that, unless you've been alerted for that, in which case you just describe the situation.

He needs to speak to the Admin of that forum before he even think s of having more than one account using the same IP address. Also, cookies are per season so you could use the same computer and have different cookies per registered user. It's just that the IP address remains the same.

There are other canvasing ways about doing things, but by in large part forums uses the IP address and cookies or even the email if email reuse is turned on. I don't allow email reuse on my board.
