FREE Great Programs for Windows 7 [2]

I used to write DLL shell extensions myself. But now I try to avoid using IContextMenuN interface unless there's no better way. The more you hook directly into Explorer the flakier it gets. :) I might be tempted if somebody wrote a free 64 bit shell extension skeleton wizard like I used for 32 bit back around 2001. No way I want to code up that interface crap by hand. The Song of the Volga Boatmen is playing in the background at just the thought. :)

I've used WDS for years. I love the graphics. It's a shame the port to 64 bit seems to be stalled though. I don't think the 32 bit version knows how to get around the folder redirection that Wow64 uses. But for speed I haven't seen anything come close to WizTree. Reads MFTs and is lightning fast. Of course for that reason it's limited to NTFS.

Yes Miles ZI like the graphics in both to be honest and I like the way that Folder Size even breaks down individual folders.

I might even try the Space Sniffer to Gary always room for more LOL!!

It is in the list, and I use OpenOffice as an alternative to Microsoft Office, I don't want to pay for program just so I can complete my College work.

I'm not sure about OpenOffice any more since Oracle sold it to Apache. LibreOffice is a fork of OpenOffice and seems to be undergoing more development than OpenOffice.

Generally it's not a good idea to run more than one real time protection type program. In fact I don't run any as they just meddle with the system. I don't like running my machine to accommodate this or that av. But running more than one "shield" is asking for disaster.

Yes, LibreOffice is another development of OpenOffice that has stop growing at about v3.4.x., two years ago.

LibreOffice is at v3.6.4.3 and have very good extensions to work with + language packs and is well integrated into Windows 7 UI despite its heavy install.

Maybe LibreOffice should have "(active fork of the inactive OpenOffice)" in the list of apps. I think this has come up a couple of times.
