Freeze a few minutes after boot, however safe mode works fine

So I've been playing GTA V on pc for a bit, and while there have been usual crashes from pushing it too hard, I had this one crash where the game froze and required holding the power button to reboot.

After that whenever I tried to boot it would boot normally, then after a while everything would freeze (items wouldn't highlight if I moused over it and they wouldn't open), and it would require holding the power button to reboot.

I was running AMD overdrive, but everytime I tried to disable it it would freeze and require a reboot.

I was also running the AMD beta drivers for GTA V, but when I tried to go to safe mode to reinstall the stable drivers it said the Windows Installer service wasn't running, so any help on that would be appreciated.

I did the sfc /scannow, it said there were some corrupted files but it couldn't fix them

I went into msconfig and disabled everything that wasn't essential/I knew it was safe and worked before, but crashes still happened

I tried to system restore, but the system protection tab didn't exist under system properties. Doing some googling, I tried finding the registry key but HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore\DisableSR did not exist

Finally, I did have some blue/black screen of death's while playing GTA V, however I can not get more information on them because of the freezes so I can't get dumps, which is why I'm posting this here.

Any help would be wonderful!

Update: I went into Safe Mode and put it in diagnostic mode (disabling all startup items and services), and slowly went through and enabled services, first enabling back internet then audio until I found the problem.

I have isolated it to this: When I enabled the Power service in msconfig (which is required for Windows Audio Endpoint Builder, which is required for Windows Audio and therefore sound), the freezes came back. Any idea why this process would cause issues?

Update: When I enable Windows Audio freezes happen, but enabling Power and Windows Endpoint Builder (and all the other dependencies of Windows Audio) doesn't cauze freezes, any ideas why Windows Audio is doing this?

Well I can't give a exact reason but I do know that when one gets into Windows 7 Services trouble can be caused.

As far as I know Microsoft does not release all the dependencies one Service has or uses. That is why I don't fool with Windows 7 Services.

I do know this tutorial by Brink can help bring Windows 7 Service back to default.

As my rule of the thumb. I don't try to out smart Microsoft or Windows 7 when it comes to Windows 7 Services.

As my rule of the thumb. I don't try to out smart Microsoft or Windows 7 when it comes to Windows 7 Services.

Ok so I downloaded all 139 registry files in there and attempted to add them (because I basically ****ed up all my service by putting it in diagnostic mode without thinking; it turned all of them off).

Some of them couldn't be added, and I have two folders of registry files that were successful and not successful.

When I boot up, Windows looks normal again, however the freeze still occurs shortly after it boots. Any other way of diagnosing this issue?

Don't push it too hard. Seriously, you've knowingly stressed the system and caused it to crash and then wonder why you're having issues?

I was running overdrive on a refurbrished card so I knew I would have some issues; plus with the crashes/BSOD's I needed more than one to show that it was a recurring problem otherwise I would only have one dump to show that might be an isolated problem.

I didn't think it would escalate into this; this might even be an unrelated issue.
