Hello,

I have just purchased this i7-based Acer laptop, and I have been experiencing rather frequent BSODs. I would very much appreciate any help with this issue. I am attaching the most recent .dmp. Many thanks!

Thanks DeanP. I have Sophos AV and ZoneAlarm (firewall only).
I have removed the BB software as no updates were available. Let's wait and see how the system behaves...

7f double fault, most likely looking at a bad driver or even bad hardware.

edit: nevermind dean to the rescue.

editedit: it also would improve things to remove the third party security and get windows security essentials on there.
about 20x less likely to develop problems with it.

If ZoneAlarm is installed; you have 2 options,

Uninstall ZoneAlarm. ZoneAlarm is a known cause of BSOD and same as third-party anti-virus. Uninstall it and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE): http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Alternatively, if you wish to keep ZoneAlarm. You may want to try this Hotfix from Microsoft. I cannot guarantee if it may work or not. Stop error message when you run an application that transfers data by using the UDP protocol in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows 7: "STOP 0x0000007F"

Don't install BB software.
Uninstall ZA and use Microsoft Security Essentials OR try and use the Hotfix from Microsoft.
