Frequent BSOD's after swapping in a new Motherboard

Hi sevenforums,

I've been helped out a lot in the past because you helped me get my laptop fixed. These days I'm having a different problem.

I have pc with an Asrock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 motherboard which I recently put in there to replace the standard version of that motherboard. The old motherboard got damaged in a blackout and I didn't want to be without a pc for too long so I ordered a new one.

After I swapped in the new Motherboard I installed(or reinstalled) all the drivers so those would be up to date. But I still get a blue screen almost every day so I must have made a mistake somewhere.

I ran WhoChrashed and all of my bsod's seem to point at these drivers:

Some of the drivers included with my motherboard had to be installed with the AMD Catalyst Control panel. I'm going to try reinstalling my GPU driver first. And if that doesn't work I'll use driver sweeper to remove the driver and reinstall it again.

Bluescreens became more frequent when i tried this so I continued by sweeping the driver and I'm going to reinstall it now.

Did you end up reinstalling the OS (after [FONT=Segoe UI, Arial]Edit2[/FONT])?

Hey YoYo155,

Thanks for the reply, I didn't manage to fix my Bluescreens yet since I got another one recently.
The reinstal I was talking about was referring to the GPU drivers. I should have been clearer about that.
I created a new zip with the diagnostic files, however this only contains new minidumps because I removed the old ones by accident. As far as I know the new files still seem to point to the same thing as the old files but I could use some help fixing it ^^.

Sorry for my short absence.
16 out of the 17 uploaded .dmp files are due to the GPU with the odd one being due to hamachi.sys.
The next thing you need to do is to determine whether the GPU was also damaged along with
the older motherboard, seeing that you already had several driver releases installed.
You don't have integrated graphics capabilities and the second PCI-e x16 slot is only
physically wired at x4 only makes the procedure situation.
Do you have a spare GPU (Graphics card) you can test with?
Do you have a spare PSU (Power Supply) you can test with?

Hi Yoyo,

sorry for my late reply this time there were a few things I wanted to try before posting again. I checked if the driver in windows actually got updated to the most recent one. Which it did because it had a december 2013 date. I tried the Beta driver from AMD which provided an atikmdag.sys from 2 weeks ago.

And before all that I also checked if there were any bios updates for my motherboard but of course there weren't since this was the first thing I did.

But even though the BSOD's are less frequent now they will still come up when I try to play League of Legends for example.

So I'm still getting the same old BSOD's. I need to check if I have a spare compatible GPU somewhere, I think I do have a Power Supply I could use and if all else fails I could go back with this GPU and ask the store to repair it since it's about 1,5 year old now which should still be within the timeperiod for repairs.

Oh btw, I also uninstalled Hamachi ^^

I don't have a power supply with the recomended 500W available sadly.

I driver sweeped the drivers again and I reinstalled it without the Catalyst Control Center. I heard some complaints about it on the web so I'm gonna check if that does any good.

Is there any chance the problem could be with my motherboard since I do have another motherboard available to test with.

Edit:
I won a new GPU in a contest so I have a new R9 270X in my desktop now. If the problem doesn't persist than I will have to take my old GPU to the shop I bought it.

I still had bluescreens even with my new GPU, so I bought a new Power Supply. It took a while but I still got the same Bluescreen as always.

Any possibility that I got a defect Motherboard?

Another Bump since I still Haven't resolved the Issue,

I swapped in my repaired motherboard, and I switched back the old Power supply as well since I figured if the motherboard was the problem it shouldn't matter which power supply I use.
That didn't work, last Tuesday I bought an SSD and I reinstalled windows on it last night and I still got a bluescreen.


While swapping in the new Motherboard I made sure to apply the cooling paste on my CPU correctly so it can't somehow be related to the CPU getting too hot.

Are both my graphics cards faulty? Is it somehow related to memory? Should I get a higher voltage power supply.

I've literally tried everything I could think of since February and nothing managed to fix my problem
