Thank you in advance for any help that you can provide.

Over the last few months I have experienced frequent hang ups or frequent "not responding" on almost every application I run (Firefox, Microsoft Word, Control Panel, even Explorer when I'm trying to open a file). I keep Microsoft security essentials updated and have run full virus scans and have found nothing week after week. I have defragmented my hard-drive three times over the course of the incident and it has not resolved the issue. I am not quite sure how to precede further as I continue to have these constant issues.

Here are the system specs I can supply:
Laptop: Dell Studio 1555
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @2.20GHz
RAM: 4.0GB
Anti-Virus: Microsoft Security Essentials
Browser: Firefox

Please let me know if this is the incorrect forum to post in. This one seemed the best fit for the problems I am having. Thank you.

When i type the command into the command prompt it tells me that:

"The drive, the path, or the file name is not valid"

I am putting the spaces in between the C:\ /F and /R as you mention. I am also running it as administrator.

This tcpmon.ini file seemed to be the only file that could not be repaired. Trying to upload the last scan I did in a file.

The tcpmon.ini file is a fairly common problem. which I suspect is caused by malware.
It appears to be the only problem in the SFC scan

I've uploaded a file - cnfaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)
Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\cnfaa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\cnfaa
or
DIR E:\cnfaa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\cnfaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time)and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply.
