Sorry, I laughed my ample asset off! What a maroon!

He did remind me of an experiment I did when I was a kid. I wanted to see how much of a spark I could get off an old 12v automotive spark coil if I connected it to 120VAC. I had a pretty good arc going when I noticed the coil housing was starting to tip a bit because it was swelling up. Before I could grab the cord and pull the plug out of the wall (yeah, I know, that was a no-no but the plug itself was too far of a reach), the top blew off. I had "fun" explaining the oil stain on the ceiling of the work shop to my Daddy when he came home that evening. Amazingly, he let me off with a mild admonition not to do it again (I was expecting a whuppin'). Methinks he was just thankful I hadn't burned the place down or blown a hole in the ceiling.

Jeannie, I think I laughed harder @ your blunder than I did while I watched the mad man in the video. I have worked on many cars and have probably caught a hundred zaps from ignition coils, ouch.
To this day, nothing will ever top the bang I got from a 240vac arc to my hand. I saw stars for hours after that one.

Yeah, it's funny now but not so much when I did it.

The worst zaps I used to get was when I used to rummage through the junk pile behind a TV repair shop on my way home from high school (yeah, I'm old enough to remember those) in search of a chassis to strip for parts (printed circuits weren't as common back then and vacuum tubes were). The first time I pulled off the flyback lead from the picture tube put me back on my then not so ample asset. I tried shunting them to ground at the flyback coil after that but sometimes I didn't do all that great of a job and would get a rude awakening when I pulled the picture tube.

I had an uncle who could grab the spark plug wires of a running engine and tell you which cylinder was missing just by the amount of zap he would get. It never fazed him. I tried it...once.

I am familiar with grabbing the spark plug wire method of troubleshooting. Sometimes it helps to change ones' mood as well. Check ur inbox, pls.
