I recently purchased this mouse and I immediately downloaded the latest setpoint for it, but I am having an issue where whenever I start playing Vegas 2, I can only use the 2 main buttons.

I have already made a custom profile but to no avail. the only thing that seems to work is:

1.- Start the game
2.- Alt+Tab out
3.- Re-Install Setpoint
4.- Get back into the game
5.- Play with the use of all mouse buttons.

I know the drivers are not for the Windows 7 but the Vista x64 work fine as you can see, they just need a little double tap on the head ;)

Do you guys have an easy suggestion? Aside from the fact that I can't seem to get use to this mouse, now, I am having game issues... it looks more and more like I am going to have to go back to the G7 mouse :(

well reading through a few posts on other forums (courtesy of google) other people are having issues with setpoint 5.9(?)(posts are from you?). so you may need wait for a software update from the manufacturer.

Well, I did search but found nothing (as you can see in my attachement ;)), probably I was using the wrong syntax. No, the only other forum I bother folks with PC issues is Vistax64.com (sister forum to this one), besides, as stated before, as soon as I got the G9, I downloaded the latest software which was Setpoint 5.10.

I will try that as soon as I get home even though the patch seems to be for a DPI bugs, which I doubt is my problem but... Thanks

My only other alternative would be to try the original Setpoint 5.0 and not update it to see if that helps resolve my issue

Well, the patch didn't work as I had suspected... I guess I am going to have to register on the Logitech forum and raise a little bit of hell there in order to get some answers.

I have a feeling is something simple as it doesn't make any sense that as soon as I reinstall, the mouse works perfectly... is like it looses the custom profile for the game.

I am going to try uninstalling the setpoint software from the Vista dual boot side to see if that solves the problem, although, it seem pretty far fetched and illogical but... I am out of ideas.

My next stop is selling it on ebay or hardforum. :(

Ah, you didn't say that you were dual booting Win7 and Vista. The mouse can only be installed to one OS at a time due to the mouse saving profiles in the onboard memory. When you switch between the two operating systems and enter the setup it detects the mouse for the "first" time and it defaluts the mouse to basic installation settings.

I suggest that you use the onboard memory function to switch profiles as opposed to setting it for software Application Detection. Create multiple profiles, save them to the onboard memory and use the button on the bottom of the mouse with the arrow selection to change profiles.

This should eliminate the need to install Setpoint on one system as you will be using the onboard memory for mouse functionality on the other.

Well, again, not to sound like an ingrate but, one of the things I read about this mouse is how great the onboard memory profile is, how you can take it anywhere and you use it on other computers, etc, etc, etc.

Anyway, after so many things I have tried, I have been able to make it work w/o having to re install. NOw, at least, I have to Alt + Tab out of the game, get into the setpoint II settings and activate the onboard game profile, go back to the game and I have the use of all the mouse buttons.

Still a PITA but, not as much of a hassle as before.

Thanks

Does the mouse fail to manually change profiles for you? I'm talking about flipping the mouse over, pushing the profile button and using the arrow button/dpi button on the top of the mouse to change profiles.

I have 2 profiles and I set them to two different colors to indicate of the profile change has occurred.

Yes, a PITA but if one can actually get this mouse to work it is the best gaming mouse on the market IMO after trying many others, Microsoft, Razer, etc. Hope this helps and good luck! :D

Also, if you use Xfire, my user name is erratikone. Add me if you play CoD4 at all or anything else!

I am leaning towards that end but I am not 100% sure as I don't know the mouse that well... more to come

Hmmm, I know I pushed the Profile button a couple of times but did not know what to do from there until now that you mentioned "Colored Profiles"... I'll try that when I get home and post back.

This is one of the reasons why I changed from my trusty G7. Well, that and the fact that I end up paying $20 bucks for it :p

Still, I am not able to get used to the ergonomics of the mouse and I feel that my G7 was a lot more comfortable.

Also, if you use Xfire, my user name is erratikone. Add me if you play CoD4 at all or anything else!
Sorry, I don't use xfire nor game Online, I more of a lone wolf Single FPS player my self... I guess I suck to much at online gaming or can't be bothered with all the time waiting to respawn, server errors or downtimes, firewall blocks, port forwarding, etc, etc.

Perhaps one of this days I will sucumb to it as PC FPS games are getting more arcade-ish with time since Consoles are taking over and all we get is half-made ports. :(

Does the mouse fail to manually change profiles for you?
OK, let me try this again, I think that it definately FAILED to automatically changed profiles when the game initialized. Now, being said that, Vegas 2 is a poorly & unoptimized console port to PC game so I can't say, with 100% certainty, that it is the mouse's fault... all I know is, I am having no luck.

OK, I did pushed the Profile button on the back of the mouse, went to the dpi button, pushed it forward/backward to no avail... does that mean the mouse is defective? Is there any other way to test this out?

General Profile = Red (90% of my usage)
Gaming Profile = Green (have really not touched this as not all the game I play the same or allow for keybinding, so I left at default)
Vega 2 Profile = Blue

Last thing I need is waste time and money sending this back for them to return it with a note that says... Stupid Hurts! :p :( :D

OK, after even more testing today, I can now say with 100% certainty that the mouse DOES NOT change profiles AUTOMATICALLY when the game starts.

I was able to change profiles MANUALLY once I was inside the game but that did not do a damn thing.

I, literally, had to alt+tab out, get into set point and change the profile to game for it to work.

I don't believe I am doing this wrong because I had the G7 and even though the setpoint for it is different, the logic behind it must be the same, right?

What I did is set two profiles, one for gaming and one for general usage. While you are editing each profile, change the color of the profile under the basics heading. I use red for general and blue for gaming

Make sure to go to Profile Manager and set it to "Switch Profiles myself using mouse buttons" and then add each profile to the mouse on board memory.

Flip the mouse over, push and hold down the switch profile button and push the left/right DPI arrow button on top of the mouse. If you have successfully set different colors to each profile, you will see the mouse DPI light indicators change colors.

Feel free to contact me on Xfire, Xfire - Gaming Simplified if you need some additional input. My username is erratikone. Hope this helps! :D

yES, THAT'S HOW i HAVE IT, oops sorry... REd is General, Green is Gaming (not used much) and Blue is for Vegas 2 game.

Only thing left to try is the "Switch Profiles myself using mouse buttons" as I did try manually changing while in game but nothing happened as explained above.

Xfire? hmmm, that's going to be tough as I don't belong to it and never go there but, perhaps with Modern Warfare 2 I'll take a stab at Online Gaming. ;)
