Gadgets has stopped working - strange and tough problem ;/

Hello,

today I have changed my audio driver and after this my gadgets windows disappear + windows constantly showing me message "Gadgets has stopped working..." with no resolve info about this.

I've tried to resolve this problem a number of ways, including:
- restore gadgets installed with windows 7 (option within control panel) EACH TIME I click this option I am getting "Gadgets has stopped working"
- Registry edit (nothing chenged)
- Delate settings.ini (nothing changed)

When I click any options related to gadgets I am getting "Gadgets has stopped working"

What is wrong, how to repair it ?

Looks like you hav file corruptionproblem. I guess your Laptop did not have Windows Ultimate version pre installed. If you have installed the Ultimate version yourself where did your install disc come from?

I don't know my friend instaled os for me, how to repair it anyway ?

Also, sfc /scannow return - no problems.

Reinstall the version of windows that came with the pc, there should be a sticker on the pc with the keycode.

Most likely Home Premium 64 bit.

No offense but, what is the correlation between windows genuine veryfication and not working gadget ?

PS: my os is genuine version.

Now I am looking around to find cd in my room mess it isn't
easy but is there any way to avoid reinstallation ? I am suprised because everything worked just geat until I changed audio drivers ;/ Anyway, I wonder how audio drivers reinstallation may influence gadgets ;/ ?

Because the type of problem that you are encountering can be the result of corrupted files on the installation disc! So they are almost impossible to repair without re installing !

Ok but it worked perfectly since begining, what about system repair from cd ?

Yes I found it. Home Premium Sp1 64 bit.

If I get ultimate version would it help with gadget ?

If you run that small program that I sent you and it shows your copy as guenuine then you can download your own copy of the OS and burn it to a DVD. I really think you will be well advised to re-install the version that came with your PC though. You know for sure that is guenuine so we can help you with that if necessary, indeed your best bet is to go for a clean install of and OEM Version.

Hi, would this be a typical example of..... if you messed with the system and something went pear shaped, format the HDD and start all over again with the complete program re-installing......files etc should have been backed up as you go.

From our other thread it looks like you are going to follow Gregrockers sound advice so stick with that. You can't do better! (IMHO)

Hi, I would have to agree with you, but the thought of having to start all over again is still a worry.

You tend to accumulate so many links and web sites in your favourites box, and all your emails too.

Whenever some Earth shattering move is made, like updating to a new computer, the complete infrastructure you've built up never seems to occur the same way.

Of course it does pay to read a "walk me through the maze" that occurs not only with a new computer but a completely new OP system.

But you can export your Favorites and emails to a storage device and import them to the new installation very easily with Win 7! If you need help with any items like this please post the question here and one of us (or more) will come to your rescue. The new install of Windows 7 onl looks daunting because Greg gives such clear and concise guidance. read through the guide a couple of times and you will see what i mean. Again even if you have the slightest doubt about any aspect of the procedure, just ask here!

Hi, thanks a ton......being a 2 finger key tapper has made me cautious......my next chore on my 2 do list......lucky I don't have too much "stuff" spread about the drive.

I only came on this website when I kept getting the Perion network Ltd pop up or wssetup.exe box every time I booted up, now solved...thanks chaps.
