I started up my new computer 5 days ago (a custom built LG with Windows 7) and got an error message that Desktop Gadgets Has Stopped Working. I first tried the simple fix: "Restore desktop gadgets installed with Windows" through the control panel, but got the same "stopped working" error message.

I cannot remember if I had the error message the very first time I turned on the computer, but if not, it was shortly thereafter. The only things I have done to the computer in 5 days is installed a wireless printer, which is working fine, and a logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. I also transferred some word and excel documents and files from my old computer via a flash drive with no problems or errors.

I read on the MS Tutorial website about this issue and determined I should see if the system files are corrupted. I did not run the verify and correct errors, but only the verify checker.

Verify if the System Files are Corrupted
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

After running it, I got this message:

Windows Resource Protection found integrity violations. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\.log For example: C:Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

When I opened the Log (that appeared on a CBS Notepad ??) , I found a very long list(Ex. below). Is my brand new computer at risk of crashing if I don't fix this? I'm not a big gadgets user but it's troubling me that this happened on a new computer and I'd like to fix it. The error message appears every time my computer tries to go to the screensaver and the little activation circle is running beside it.
Thanks!

Ex. of list on Notepad: (the actual list is much, much longer than this)

Welcome to Seven Forums Susan MFC. Suggest you run the SFC command a few times to see if it can correct any problems found. Sorry, I'm short on time these days, but hopefully someone else can follow up if your problem continues after that. A Guy
