Game Recommendation?

Looking for recommendation for a new game...

I've got quite a few games on steam, and for 360... But thought I'd see if some people had some good suggestions...

The game doesn't have to be brand new.

I really liked Halo 1 and 2, it had a "bad ass" hero, and you were fighting to save Earth. My Halo interest kind of fizzled out with 3 and the rts demo. I'll probably keep an eye out for ODST at the used game store.

I like quite a few other games too, like Batman AA, NHL 10, Left 4 Dead, Portal, etc, etc... But I'm kind of looking for a game with a new Hero and cause. Not just another game to play, but one where you can understand the hero and so on... I'm sure you know what I mean...

Games for Win 7 or 360.

The entire Half Life series (PC only, through Steam) or just HL2 (HL2 + Episodes 1 & 2 available in the Orange Box for PC and 360).

It is in the top 3 of my favourite game franchises and is widely acknowledged as the best First Person Shooter of all time.

Before playing HL2 I was not keen on the whole FPS genre but this game sold me on it.

I'd definitley recommend the Half-Life series as well. I think the ultimate hero game though is Mass Effect 1 and 2. It certainly gives you that sense of heroic achievement when you've finished it.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein were quite fun too.
And Agent Blaskowitz is a bad ass.
PainKiller was another fun game.

+1 definitely, HL2 would keep you occupied for a good long time and then both episodes are good but short. Really looking forward to episode 3.

I've got Mass Effect / Orange Box / RTCW. I haven't played painkiller or Blitzkrieg, I'll look into those.

Not to sure this fits your criteria of "hero" but I would highly recommend Just Cause 2. The game is epic in it's story, graphics and game play and it's one of those games that you can play again and again and...................

Alan Wake for 360. If you are into atmosphere and storytelling, this game will blow you away. It's like being trapped inside a Stephen King book. Bioshock and Bioshock 2 if you haven't played them yet...the stories are good and the scenery is top notch. I've played through both numerous times, as there are multiple endings. Also, Assassin's Creed 2 is awesome, Assassin's Creed 1 is pretty good. You don't have to play part 1 to get the story in part 2, but it helps.

I definitely would. I just finished it tonight, and it was amazing. Can't wait for some DLC or the sequel.

game recommendation -genre selection

castlevania is a nice platform-game most of everytitle ! for handconsoles and consoles generally

oddworld< also great! ..like abe's exodus and odyssey .. and titles for xboxes

at last i want to say this
when the sand of time- prince of persia release
i playd it and i liked it...
after this the warrior within appeared
all that time was in ps2
but i lost the plot and i let it
..time passed and recently i installed for the pc
i finished this and the two thrones! << the PRINCE OF PERSIA GAME IS A NICE GAME OF PLATFORM ONE OF THE BEST>>

before the last' reinstall' of the warrior within i
tried prince of persia 2008 ahriman series!
but i couldnt made it < needs better power - machine!

the first was great!

finally.. i saw the mass effect in friends xbox and was ~ ok
but i liked most other games and platform ones are the best new choices of xbox!
