thats what im talking about the whole time - there is NO optimization button/tool in win7, so do i need to issue the trim command manually somehow?
I already made mention in post #6 that Windows TRIMs the drive automatically. You don't need to do anything.
I think there might be some confusion with Windows 10 users because it's called "optimize and defrag." It's not "defraging" anything unless it's a platter drive, only invoking the TRIM command in the case of a SSD/flash-based hard drive. In Windows 10 you can force it though with the "optimize" button.
