Compare that to European prices. Heard on the webradio today that a litre is at 1,60 Euros in Germany. That is $9,00 per US Gallon at the current exchange rate. People have to get off their gas guzzlers. 50MpG should be standard - and not with hybrids that lug too much weight around. Turbo Diesel is the way to go.

But from a gardener's point of view you probably want sheep not goats as lawn mowers (goats tend to rip out the roots more than sheep

I don't blame anybody. I was just quoting the statistics. And of course not every citizen. only the average citizen. There sure is somebody that consumes what you save. But it is not only cars, also electricity, boats, lawnmovers and anything that needs energy.

We fluctuate around the $1.50-$1.70 per litre here in Australia depending on fuel type. 91/Ethanol to 98

It's gouging, plain and simple. Oil companies literally have us over a barrel

Sorry Wolfgang, US gallon. I know Europe and the UK pay higher prices. We, US find it difficult too. No reason for it other than greed. The $9.81 gas will also rise. Ack!

Well, in Germany 70% of the price is taxes. I think it is similar in the other European countries.
