Get rid of this homepage

NOPE! Didn't work even after a restart of the system. IE still opens up to: Homepage

Tools -> Internet Options has the correct information for the homepage we want. We have also double checked the tabs settings and it says first homepage as you have said.

Browser hijacking. Install https://www.malwarebytes.org/ and run it.

4wd, you're on the right track, your-home-page.net is a browser hi-jacker and it may take more than a run of malwarebytes (mbam).

Your-home-page.net is a browser hijacker, which is promoted via other free downloads, and once installed it will change your browser homepage and default search engine to your-home-page.net/

This in itself is not considered malicious as there are many legitimate programs that change these settings as well. What is considered malicious, though, is that it will also append the argument your-home-page.net/ to random Windows shortcuts on your desktop and your Windows Start Menu.

Delete the whole lot of "http://...." and save it.

I put it in and it stayed still the page opens up when I start up IE. I have tried everything you guys have asked of me and none has worked. adwCleaner, Malwarebytes, all the stuff I see from you guys. ????

Open the shortcut again and see if it is still "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe".

Then open "Internet Options" (Can open it from Control Panel too) and take a screenshot, then on the very same window there is a button called "Tab". Click that and take another screenshot.

I've seen browser hijacks that put an entry in the registry and the problem will keep reappearing every time the system is started or the browser is loaded. Problem is finding the entry in the registry that is the culprit. Once had one from the Wife's use of IE that would launch background processes repeatedly and eventually bog the CPU and the internet connection to a stall. Once the entry was found in the registry and deleted, the problem went away.

Yes I have tried everything in this post the guys here has referred to me.

Maybe/Maybe not. I've usually had to go into the Processes list in Task Manager to see the name of what was running and use that for a find argument. Other times it was some obscure reference that led me to the offending entry.

This spyhunter has been around and it will find problems on a users machine that don't exist and wants money to correct those problems, it doesn't matter if you cough it up or not, you end up with worse problems than you started with.

You have to be very meticulous in following those steps.

Referenced the link for the other steps in trouble shooting the "your-homepage.net" problem. I agree. Don't touch the download referenced in the link.

Aww..No harm, no foul jamis. I just hope kbbgood stopped in time. Follow GokAy's lead and remove that link, and mention in the reason for edit line something to the effect that you removed the "bad/dead link".
