Getting Error 1053 where trying to start a windows service

Hello,

I have created a service using the following command in cmd prompt:
sc \\computername create servicename binpath= C:\Windows\System32\sam.exe

Then in the service list, I could see my service.
When I right clicked on the service and clicked on Start , I am getting a pop-up with the following error:
Windows could not start the newservice4 service on Local Computer.

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

And the status of the service getting reflected as "Starting" or blank.
Please suggest how this error can be resolved.
