Solved Getting IP Address but no internet connection unless I use 5Ghz...

Weird issue. Happened once before but I can't recall how I fixed it.

My old (but trusty) Acer 5920G which my wife uses for a lot of her work, which uses an Intel 4965 AGN card, has decided to play tricks on me.

Essentially if I try to connect to my 2.4G 801.11n network, I get an IP address assigned by the router/modem, but have the dreaded "no internet access" issue. I can't ping the router either.

I've tried the following:

1. uninstall and reinstall the driver
2. ipconfig /flushdns
3. ipconfig /release and then /renew
4. Reboot the router/modem
5. Disconnecting and reconnecting to the network, along with rebooting.

It has decided that the only network it will connect to AND give me an IP Address is my 5GHz network.

Oddly, if I connect to my 5Ghz network, then disconnect and reconnect to my 2.4Ghz wireless, I get access to the internet for a few minutes, before I lose internet access and have to reconnect to the 5Ghz signal.

Anyone have any ideas what could cause this and how to fix it? The 5Ghz network is great, except as I move further from the router so I'd prefer to connect to the 2.4...

I clicked on the link you provided for the driver and it began a download from (I think) driver detective
edit: hmmmm, your link is just text now.

edit: I must have been logged out when I read the post the 1st time.

The first thing I would try would be the driver from Intel - this might or might not solve the issue.

You're welcome - glad it worked !

Try to always get drivers from the manufacture's site.
Third party "driver finder" are always questionable.
