Solved Getting some windows services errors, without a known cause

Hello, all.

I'ts good to see that there's a forum dedicated to Windows 7 where I can post this.

First some quick info:

I have built my own custom PC with pretty high specs. I've recently upgraded some stuff and made a fresh install of Win7 on my SSD. I know a lot about computers/hardware and software, so I know what I'm doing.

Here we go:

After about a week of installing programs, updates, etc. I noticed some weird stuff happening with my PC. First thing was, I got a little error in my taskbar saying that windows defender was not running. I noticed MS security essentials was also not running. Obviously I just tried restarting the security essentials, which did not work. It had problems with the windefend service. Which made me go to services.msc.

In there, I just tried restarting windefend myself, but windows then told me the service could not be found (error 126...) After some googling, the anwser must be in some registry values. So, I went to 'run' and typed in 'regedit'.

Now here's the joke: the program was not found. (At this point I was getting quite angry...)

So I figured, let's run shkdsk and sfc /scannow. That came up with some little errors which could be fixed. I did a restart.

On that restart, my mouse and keyboard were not working anymore. Went into safe mode and did a system restore, which (thankfully) sorted that out.

But, the problems wouldn't go away. Right now I'm seeing that my libraries are GONE. When I click 'create new library', windows says: 'unable to create the file new library.library-ms'...



Summarised, after a fresh install of windows and installing some (trusted) drivers and software, I keep getting the most annoying and strange errors within Windows which are mostly services and basic tasks.

I do not understand what's going on here, as I've had this before like a few months ago. I feel like I don't trust Win7 anymore as my workstation OS. The thing is, I HAVE to use it, because other OS'es just don't have the compatibility with the programs I use on a day-to-day basis.

Does anyone on this forum get similar strange errors within windows? I'm just getting sick and tired of this and I need a solution so I can continue my work!

EDIT: Could it be the fact that I'm running an OCZ Vertex plus SSD? I've had it running in my system for about a year which worked fine before...

Where did you get Win7 exactly?

Download, install declining trial version, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytes, SUPERAntiSpyware, and ESET Online scanner, in Safe Mode with Networking if necessary.

Then run SFC /SCANNOW Command again once disinfected to see if all System files can now be repaired.

Establish a Clean Boot, utilize System Resources, test hardware, all from the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 which will often find the problem.

Yep those are some generic answers... The thing is, it's a completely fresh install with only an amd driver, msi afterburner and coretemp installed. There is no way there would be virusses on the rig already. Anyways, I'll just try those AV's today and see if it does come up with something.

If I gave you generic answers then why didn't you answer the only question? We're not interested in your opinion of our questions which are based on tens of thousands of successful cases, only straight answers and reporting back on steps. No problem will evade us if we get full cooperation, which is why this is the top tech forums in web history.

Did you run all Important and Optional Windows Updates, with reboots, until there are no more offered, and before you forced drivers WIn7 may not want? This is how drivers are delivered in Win7 along with important patches and security updates without which it may not run right.

It's a stable OS with perfect performance when you have a perfect install like the one compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7, so compare the install you did with that one.

Well; I must say I was just a bit mad when writing that. (So, my apologies for that.)

But still, there is no need to go on a defensive note here. Let's just move on...

To answer your question, I've bought my copy of Win7 OEM in a PC shop nearby.
Also, I did install most of the windows update (~160 of them) and then installed the amd driver. Are you saying that windows might give errors when installing a video driver before any updates? I'm not quite sure how that would affect windows defender or the libraries in ANY way...

Right now, I'm pretty sure that my OCZ vertex plus SSD is the problem. I've already ordered a better one.
Let's just wait for that to be delivered; I'll do an install on that and run windows update a few times.
If that does not work, I'll be completely out of ideas. There shouldn't be anything that could cause windows to give errors on a fresh pc with a new SSD.

If the SSD tests good with the maker's diagnostics and has its firmware updated, the RAM tests good with RAM Test with Memtest86+ , then it goes to the install.

Stick with the steps in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which have been used by over a million consumers without complaint, and you will have a perfect install to the exact extent you do.

If problems persist go over your install most thoroughly using the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

Looks like the SSD was the problem. I've installed windows exactly the same way I did on my old SSD. No problems what so ever now.

Other's have had the same problem:

I bought a vertex plus 60g because the price was excelent but you get what you pay for....

Now the speeds were fine for windows and wow and some apps load times were excellent. But when it came time to restart my computer when i updated a driver the troubles started. I would get a chkdsk error and windows would fix it but the second or third time it happens then windows wont boot properly or all my files would be corrupted. Had to re-install windows 3 times in 3 weeks and I don't restart my pc much.

I thought maybe it was just me but heres new-egg reviews and ocz forums I thought i would give people thinking about picking one up on the cheap a heads up.

Lucky me new-egg decided to issue me a refund and i got an crucial m4 64g otw

So do yourself and your Dataz a favor and stay away from vertex plus.
