.......

This is the procedure I use to successfully get the newest HD630 graphics drivers (which are Win10 only) working within W7 on my system.

.......

Greetings john.
I'm trying to install W7 on a Kaby Lake HD620 system, and would appreciate if you could kindly share your expertise in modifying the w10 intel graophics drivers to run in W7.
Many thanks and best regards,

This link is the tutorial I made some time ago on how to manually adjust the intel graphics driver INF file so it will work with kabylake on windows 7

Intel g4560 kabylake on windows 7 64 bit

A couple notes though. I used this method to install a few progressive driver versions, and have no idea if it will work with the latest version. I'm still on 21.20.16.4664 right now, having installed a couple later versions but then went back to 4664, for reasons I can't even remember.

The instant kaby lake came out I got one along with a z270 board, and found that gigabyte had a beta kaby lake win7 download that worked just fine. A few weeks later intel decided to disallow kabylake on win7, but I believe the gigabyte download is still out there and may well work for anyone. Can't hurt to try. Here is the link. Its version 4508. Installing this is easier than modifying your INF.

Johnhoh,

gigabyte had a beta kaby lake win7 download

Are there links to any other drivers, or is it just the graphics driver?

Thanks for the kind reply, John.

1. The Hardware ID of %iKBLWGT2% is 591D, but was modified to 5912. Wonder if it was a typo?
2. HDMI audio from the 4664 package failed to install. Did you have similar problem? Any fix?
3. Did you try modifying a "w10 only" package such as 6286?

The hardware ID of MY OWN cpu is 5912. You will want to use the 4-digit string that applies to your cpu, as discussed in step 5 of my linked post.

2. HDMI audio from the 4664 package failed to install. Did you have similar problem? Any fix?
After installing, don't forget to go into control panel > sounds and change the default sound device from your speakers to your monitor, otherwise you will not hear anything from your monitor.
But if you are saying you got an hdmi installation error of some type, please post step by step details of what you did, and how windows told you about the error.

3. Did you try modifying a "w10 only" package such as 6286?
I do not know what you mean by 6286. But no, I would not use a win10 only package because those install scripts will include writes to win10 registry entries that do not exist for win7.

Greetings John,
Thanks for the kind reply.

1. The Gigabyte 4508 package is a gem. Much obliged.
2. This chap over at the videohelp forum seems to be switching igdumdim32.dll as well. Have you tired that?

Hi! I wrote a guide on page 5, but I write a polished version here.

1. Download the last Win7 compatible driver from Intel for HD Graphics. It is the version win64_15.45.19.4678
2. Download a newer version which is win10 only but contains the driver for your processor. In my case, Intel Core i7 8550U with DEV_5917. I downloaded the latest driver.
3. Make copies/backup of both folders and save elsewhere before starting editing.
4. Unzip both. From the unzipped ones, go to the new driver folder, then Graphics, then copy all components and paste in the Graphics folder of the old (15.45.19.4678) version. Note; So far in my case I didn't play a role if I replaced the same names of the old files with the new ones or skipped them to keep the old ones. Exception; do NOT replace the igdlh64.inf file and the igdumdim32.dll
5. Find the DEV number of the processor. Device Manager (from Control panel or search), right click on generic VGA Adapter, properties, details, ID (from the list).
6. Open the igdlh64 file (with a notepad) from the new version (Graphics folder) find the DEV number under windows 10 and copy the whole line.
7. Paste it under the Windows 7 section in the igdlh64 file of the old driver and correct the ikbl win10 with iskl win7 (known trick for 7th gen).
8. Copy all lines that include the 4-digit number from the igdlh64 file from the new driver and paste in the respective sections of the igdlh64 of old driver. In the end of the text, also add the name of the driver as a label, eg Intel UHD Graphics 620.
9. Install the modified old driver (win64_15.45.19.4678) and reboot.
10. After reboot. Copy the igdumdim32.dll file from the Graphics folder of the new version and paste it to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 replace the existing files

3. There are reports of issues with these "hacked" drivers. Did you experience any? Could you suggest any good diagnostic test to assess the graphics performance?
4. Over here, Intel's XTU graphics stress test failed to start, and IPDT's SPBC Module test failed. Are these indications of problems somewhere?

Many thanks and best regards,

I have not tried drivers past 4678 and do not plan to, as this system has been stable for a while. If I recall correctly I did get some minor graphics artifacts within lotus 1-2-3 (a poorly behaved 20 year old program I use a lot) when using ver 4678 which is why I went back to 4664. I just ran tests on my i7700k hd630 kaby lake-7th gen running driver 4664 and it passes all the xtu and ipdt tests without a hitch. But in my view, all that matters is stability in day-to-day performance. Stress tests stress a machine way beyond my daily needs, so I tend not to use them.

I see that the guy at videohelp is using my basic method, but his method is more involved and requires transferring igdumdin32. I would speculate that this is required for him because he is on a kaby lake-R 8th gen cpu, whereas I am on a 7th gen. The igdumdim32/64 files that are a part of 4678 were made prior to the 8th gen cpus, so presumably the newer versions are required for 8th gen cpus.

All told, I am confident that 7th gen kaby lake is rock solid on 4664 and 4508 within win7, but have yet to see evidence that there exists a method to get 8th gen running perfectly on win7. But good to see someone working on it.

Tried using the 6286 components , but Intel Graphics Settings failed to run.
Anyone had success with using files more recent than 4860?

5068 update:

Greetings.
Was able to install the latest Intel Graphics Driver for W7 v15.45.5068 on a HD620 GPU (hwid 5916 & 280B) without having to modify the .dll files. Just add the appropriate entries to the respective inf setup files.
Can anyone kindly advise if the same procedure will work for the UHD620/UHD630/HD630 GPUs? Or is .dll modification a must?
Many thanks and best regards,
