Ghost Icons ?

Hello,

Several times after creating a WORD document, and at times for other items, a "ghost" icon of the
saved item also shows up in addition to the regular one on the Desktop.

It appears as a very light, washed out, icon.

If I try to open it up to investigate, I get a message that Windows can't open this file.

Any idea why this is created, and what it actually is ?

Thanks,
Bob

It's information tied to the original file that Windows references when the file is saved. You're seeing it (most likely) because you have the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" option enabled. You can change it from within Windows explorer by clicking on Organize/Folder and search options/View (tab)/Don't show hidden files, folders and drives.
