Solved Ghost images on desktop

Hello again Damian,
Thank you for your time and patience. My computer is about 3 years old.
I don't use the windows explorer for anything.
I have had CC cleaner for quite a long while and run it approx every 2 weeks. I also have Glary Utilities installed.
Malwarebytes, I installed a few weeks ago and it found conduit that I thought I had gotten rid of with Adware, but it was still there.

I was just thinking that when I view my pictures in my libraries, this doesn't happen. This just happens when I try to view them on my desktop. I have had Fences installed on my desktop and a wallpaper for a longtime too.

I will try your suggestion with the thumbnail cache and get back to you.

A few more ideas now that you found yourself infected.

Remove all signs of Glary Utilities. Hopefully it's not to late.

These kinds of utilities can do a lot of damage to your system.
I don't know how good their removal tool is but this is it.

I use this (Eset) several times and it works great.

Hello Damian. I did what you said to do. Yay!
The old images don't show up anymore. So far so good.
The Windows Photo Viewer notice appeared only once while clicking through photos.
Although I do, do disk cleanup occasionally, I have never checked the thumbnail box because I never really knew what it meant.
I will download Photo Gallery and try it. Thank you for all the kewl links and teaching me a thing or two.

I have taken your advise and uninstalled Glary Utilities. It was only on my PC for approx 3 days.
My sister used it for a long time and recommended it me because of my problem. (She's not tech. It was recommended to her.)
I showed my sister your comment and she freaked!
What does it mean when you say..."These kind of Utilities can do damage" Why is Glary Utilities bad?
I would really like to know...how people, that are not overly techie, know if a program bad for our machines. I noticed Cnet gave this program 5 stars and then there's the positive comments. Is Cnet not a trustworthy sight? This confuses me. :huh:
I would really like to understand. Any knowledge you share is very much appreciated Layback Bear.

Cnet would give a dead chicken 5 Stars.
In my opinion Cnet use to be a top notch Website a few years ago but no longer is.

A great way to know about programs is ask question right here on the Forum.
Windows 7 doesn't need or want such programs. Windows 7 can take care of itself.

What is wrong with such programs. That is the hard part but here is the short story.

These types of programs change things, move things, delete things and probably more.
Some of them also drag the buddy programs with them into your computer.
Some are infection and some are adware and or PUP's.
We don't know how to unchange the things that were changed because we don't know what the programs did but we do know the results. Most times nothing good.

Another thing to stay away from is anything from IOBit including Advanced System Care.

I recommend doing this tutorial by Brink to test Windows 7 System files.
Read through it completely and then do it. sfc /scannow

Yes Layback Bear I ran the scan. It took a long time. It showed 0 files.
I also managed to get my sister to run the scan on her machine.
It found 7 folders. She has taken your advice also and removed Glary Utilities.
When I said she used that Utility for a long time, she used it on her old PC for a few years...maybe that's why it crapped out??
It was then installed on her new/used one.

Whoa! Words fly, especially when the printer doesn't print. LOL.
I tried to get her to join today because she wanted me to ask a question.
I said why don't you learn? You ask a question.
She wouldn't, no way. Then I asked her what her question was.
Her question had nothing to do with computer malfunctions or such.
She wanted me to ask, "What program she could use to translate a German handwritten letter into English.''
I'm sorry, but I burst out laughing....yes she slapped me.
