Hi,

I'm quite sure this wasn't sold worldwide because I haven't been able to find much info online. I found an interesting post in German but Google translate didn't help me much.

This is a wireless USB adapter. It worked fine when I used it in my laptop running WinXP x86.
Now I have 7 x64 and doesn't work as good as it used to. I get BSOD from time to time.
I'm using the Vista x64 drivers provided with it, but it causes the BSOD anyways.

I know the BSOD are caused by this device because I never ever had a problem with this computer and I never do unless I'm using this adapter.

Siemens online doesn't help.

Does anyone know this little device and have updated drivers?
I'd appreciate it very much.

If the manufacturer of a device doesn't even provide support for 7, then it's likely not available.

Vista is not 7, not a huge shocker that the vista drivers aren't smooth sailing.

Buy yourself a nice NEW 802.11N USB wireless device, like this and end the pain:

ASUS USB-N13 USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter - Newegg.com

When I moved to 7 I lost a couple devices and noticed one of the wireless USB's similar to yours wouldn't work, happy ending though, it works on the Wii.

Hi there .. I could not find a Windows 7 Driver for this Device... I did find one interesting fact though .. Seems like this Device can cause problems conflicting with some AV programs .. This might explain why you have been having crashes .. I think your best solution which has already been stated is just to replace the Device

Hi,

Thank you both for replying.
I was afraid of that.

Thanks for the link.

I believe I will be buying a wi-fi pci card when I go to my local hardware store.

Thanks a lot! :)

Yeah, I'm late, but for the sake of not wasting good hardware let's give a shot at this.

That thing is basically a OEM box for an atheros wifi chip (as they state on the box). If you can post its hardware ID I could try to fetch a driver from Atheros, that might not have windows 7 drivers, but is more likely to have stable vista drivers.
This explains how to get such ID (of course you do it for your device, not an android phone as in the tutorial).

Cool, thank you!

With finals around and another shift at work I haven't taken the time to buy the wi-fi card yet. So I still have the annoying ethernet cable all through my house hallway.

Just in case, the compatible IDs are:

USB\Class_FF&SubClass_00
USB\Class_FF

Thank you!

So, it appears that the thing is running on a AR5007UG chipset (or ZyDAS ZD1211B, rebranded), and the latest drivers for that are here.
Not being drivers from Gigaset your device should change name and become a "Generic IEEE802.11g Wireless LAN" in device manager, but at least in theory it should work fine where it matters.

You might need to wait a bit after you clicked on the download button before it pops up the download dialog. I also attach it to this post for the sake of convenience.

It's tiny because it's just the naked driver (no installer to click on), so you need to update it manually. This tutorial.

Crossing fingers. :D

Btw, there is also an older version of the driver if you scroll down a bit, 2.0.0.127, which you can try as well.

Hello

I've the same device (same Hardware-IDs) and these drivers won't work by me.
Well, the drivers are installed, but the device cannot start... (Error code 10).

I tried both 2.2.0.27 (install through device manager) and 2.0.0.127 (with the setup.exe).

Can someone help me?

What is the device's actual name? You sure it's not just a dead device? Is it in a USB 2.0 port on the back?

Go in its panel from Device Manager, go in Driver tab, select Uninstall, in the popup check the box about deleting the driver. Then do it again until the device is no longer recognized or it's no more possible to do it (when you are using the generic windows driver). Reboot the machine.

Download (might have been a corrupted download) and Install again the latest driver I found.

Okay, I'm ashamed.:o I plugged it in an USB slot in the backpanel and it works now.

Many thanks for the fast support :) but can you explain me, why it works on the backpanel?
Maybe to less power on the frontpanel? But I'm glad it works, you are my hero.

Don't be ashamed. :p You are correct.

With ports on the back are usually 90% sure that the device will receive the full power promised by USB specs (0.5 amperes at 5 volts).
Wifi/bluetooth dongles and hard drives need full power (hard drives might need more than one port as they are really hungry). A flash drive needs little.

With ports NOT on the back, it's far less certain how much power each port is getting. Varies depending from motherboard (and how they decided to implement the usb headers on the mobo). Could be stated in manual, or not. Sometimes some headers have this limitations, while others not. Try changing the header of the cable connected to your frontal USB to another if you have some free.

In case the device is too big and is closing other ports or if you want to get better reception (if your case is tucked away inside something and the wifi bars in the icon are less than half), you can purchase a smallish USB extension cable for it. As long as it does not go beyond a meter and a half (1.5 m) you will be fine (USB data signals lose strength with distance, so there is a maximum distance it can go without a repeater, that adds cost).

Hello together,
I've searched a lot and came to this promising thread. I have a Gigaset USB Adapter 54 (USB version with cable) S30853-S1016-R107. Unfortunately the Hardware IDs are different to that mentioned here. I am running WIN 8 64bit.

Hardware IDs
USB\VID_083A&PID_4502&REV_0203
USB\VID_083A&PID_4502

I tried a lot of different drivers to load manually, but selected "driver was not found...". As I read the thread here, I just tried the vista-2.2.0.27-whql.zip driver - same result.

Do you see any chance to get this good old thing running?

Thanks and best regards

I just tried this driver:
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Intersil/p54/usb/windows

Result: driver was found (PRISM 802.11 Adapter USB) with the following error: the hash value of the catalog file is damaged or was changed unauthorized......

Does anybody know if this can be solved?
