Going to SSD......a few questions

Time and price take longer to trickle down this way :(

That's no good... I poked around a little to see if i could find anything helpful for you, and came up with this fairly decent list for aussie. There's even 6 price comparison links at the bottom. Here's hoping you find something you didn't realize existed! :D

Thanks for the reply mpcrsc562.

I think I was unclear in the post : I meant ditch the SSD and use the Velocirator as the primary disk. My secondary disk will still be my existing 1TB WD.

So, given the price, do I go the SSD, or the Velociraptor. High quality SSD's in Australia are phenomenally expensive, hence I'm considering the Velociraptor instead.

I hope that makes better sense now,
Golden

You cannot compare a Raptor to a SSD. The access time to the Raptor is 100 times slower than to a good SSD. You will not get the same kick from a Raptor than from an SSD - there is a world of difference. I only go with SSDs for the OS - and a 40GB SSD would suffice unless you have a lot of very large programs (e.g. games).
