Thank You A Guy, it looks like I will have to bite the bullet, and start helping the DW with IE9.

Bugs? I seem to recall users were having problems with IE9 when it first debut.

This deals with an Intel driver that I have (Igdkmd64.sys (64-bit) v8.15.10.1968), but the one in the link is Igdkmd64.sys (64-bit) v8.15.10.2104, so, I'll probably have problems there.

There were also problems with CSS, and hardware acceleration, but I digress, and its time to get :focus:.

i never had any problem with IE9 even when it was beta. when it came out i stayed with it. if people would use the recommended install they wouldnt have any problems.

For best results you should be using a SPDY enabled browser such as Chrome or Firefox when using google sites such as gmail.

Google developed open network protocol with Google sites might not be faster than accessing the same site without SPDY:

The thing is that cost a lot of money to upgrade and you just can't upgrade xp machines to 7 so easily because the machines are designed for xp and performance would be low if 7 was installed and they would have to re-config the whole network. You would also have to buy more ram for every computer in the facility and upgrade to other programs since some xp programs don't work on 7 and imagine the cost for business licenses to have every computer be genuine. Anyways yea they will eventually move on but with today's economy that is going to be very hard and costly.

Hardware and licensing costs are costly, so is updating legacy business applications that were written for IE 6. I've seen companies where the business flatly denied updating such business applications that would've cost much more than hardware and licensing...

Your school should be reported LOL. Google isn't trying to abet piracy. They wanted people to take advantage of the modern web standards

lol, to who? Police here doesn't give a damn about software piracy. Most of their grunts I talked with don't even grasp the concept (or play dumb because they are pirates too ).

What Google wants is irrelevant (and sounds a bit stupid, btw, IE8 is relatively new) forcing people to upgrade will increase piracy if said people does not have money and cracking stuff is so friggin easier than coughing thousands of bucks in Win 7 licences.

And man, I've see so much cracked stuff with my job... even friggin servers running Server 2008 r2 Datacenter (5000 bucks).

So yes, I believe in what I said.

Not that catastrophically notice. It didn't say the sites will not work at all, just "not supported". In the short them, they'll work as normal and in the long run we'll slowly begin to see some bugs, it's not an all or nothing thing.

Regardless, it's a good idea to dissuade people of usnig IE, 6, 8 or 9, or whatever. If Google if really serious about security, it should forbidden every IE on every of it's sites, and allow only serious browsers.

But I don't think anyone will change its mind of what browser to use just because Google says so.

IE9 has the best security Alejandro.. look up threat blog from the popular antivirus software makers. there you will see how they know which browser has the best security.
the biggest problem people face with internet explorer, is they opt for the custom install where they choose what they want. i use to do that got viruses and tracking cookies, since i started installing the recommended, i havent had any viruses or tracking cookies.
plus i use microsoft security esstential.

did yall fail to hear earlier this year on the news, google was caught selling peoples info who used google, google chrome, google phones, google ect, to a third party.

Don't take it seriously, I was just laughing off. I never meant what I wrote and that's why I put LOL at the end of sentence. As with IE8, I found it a lot slower than IE9, and IE8 crashes more on complex websites than IE9 on my laptop. That maybe due to not rendering the code properly, or its javascript engine is so slow that it easily becomes nonresponsive.

several threat blogs i read, said hackers uses a black hole root kit to exploit IE8, google chrome, and firefox, and can use flash player and java to access your computer using those three browsers and you will never know it till its to late. IE9 has better security and microsofts team is keeping up with what the hackers are doing.
twice this month i got the cumilative security updates for IE9.
