Recently reinstalled Avast anti virus.
They installed Google Chrome on my computer, even though I said no.

It appears (that), No doesn't always mean No.

Google Chrome isn't stored in the usual place, ie; Program files, but hidden away in some obtuse file, that even if found, is a file I cannot access to change nor uninstall.

Win 7 is a bit difficult to open/access certain files.

Bottom line is, how can I uninstall Google Chrome from my computer ?

REVO Uninstaller free should be able to track it down and destroy it. Run it at the Highest Level to ensure it removes the auto updater and all other components.

You can easily uninstall Google Chrome from the Programs Group (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features) in the Control Panel.

Just installed it.
That is a really cool program.
It didn't show an entry of Google Chrome but.

Is it possible that Google Chrome is not actually installed on my computer?
Ccleaner indicates that it is.

What now Bro?

You can easily uninstall Google Chrome from the Programs Group in the Control Panel.

Do you mean " Programs and Features" in control panel?
It doesn't show an entry in that . ( of Google Chrome)

If you see that it is installed in the Programs Menu of CCcleaner, go ahead and uninstall it there.

If you see that it is installed in the Programs Menu of CCcleaner, go ahead and uninstall it there.

In Ccleaner, under Tools/ uninstall...Google Chrome is not listed.
However, in Ccleaner/applications, there is the entry.

Patience man, stick with it...I got to know..

inouno, the link I provided, gives you exact instructions on how to manually remove Chrome.

Please post a Snip of your program menu where Google Chrome shows installed, another after right clicking on Chrome and selecting "open file location" with the resulting window. Also a snip from CCcleaner showing Chrome as installed also.

Now, I am going to attempt to insert a "clip". I have never done it before.

Does the above, in blue letters, not open a new page if you click on it? That's a link.

Yes it did.
What I don't know about the simple operation of computers is mind boggling.

I opened that thing up and got an error message.
I couldn't proceed any further.

I did make an attempt to send a picture of the Ccleaner entry re: Google Chrome entry.

Thank you for your assistance, I, am going to have to look at this again tomorrow.

I appreciate your patience.

good night.

No problem. Also, please do this...Please post a Snip of your program menu where Google Chrome shows installed, another after right clicking on Chrome and selecting "open file location" with the resulting window.

FYI, a Snip is a picture made by using Snipping Tool, which you can find in your program menu in the Accessories Folder.

That is sooo cool. (snipping tool) thank you.
I'll have another go at sending a snip.
Also, I have found out that Google Chrome is not stored in "Program Files", but somewhere in System files. Too sneaky for me.
The thing is, that they are protected files and too difficult for me to open.
I know that this program is hidden in my computer somewhere, because why else would Ccleaner have a mention of it ?

anyhow, here goes.. an attempt to send two snips.

The program menu in Windows, not the Program window in CCcleaner. And you must show us where it is installed by doing everything that the above quote says.

It's not there (in Program files)
Also, it's never going to be there, because it will be hidden in C:/documents and settings/username/local settings/application data/google chrome directory
..and I can't access these files.
So , I would like to close this discussion. As unsolved.
Thank you for your time.
